Half a century on from its release, shockwaves from Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew continue to reverberate throughout the universe. Leading more than a dozen all-stars in the studio (including Wayne Shorter on soprano sax, John McLaughlin on electric guitar and a triple-threat electric piano section featuring Joe Zawinul, Chick Corea and Larry Young), Miles defied all conventional styles, joining the loose ends of jazz, rock and funk into a groundbreaking new sound that would eventually become known quite plainly as fusion. Music exists in movement and change, but before any part of it can be pinned down for analysis, it’s often moved and taken on a new face. The transformation is often driven by culture as forward-thinking people avoid the proverbial paths in search of revolution. Even though our pioneers prophesied that the revolution would not be televised, the message has permeated. It’s spreading like wildfire and leaders are defined by those that speak first: Jazz Is Dead.
Music is the universal language and we are the interpreter of sound, a message that has been lost in transcription. Under Jazz Is Dead, younger artists are elaborating upon conversations started decades ago; jazz icons are utilizing vintage equipment to create new masters with Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad; the same equipment that recorded their coveted catalogs. The vitality embedded in the new masters epitomizes our quest for new life in music: Jazz Is Dead.
This compilation features legendary artists Roy Ayers, Gary Bartz, Marcos Valle, Azymuth, Doug Carn, Joao Donato, & Brian Jackson, who will each have their own individual release, working alongside Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad.

* LP housed in a superheavy 430g art carton cover
* Ultimate collectors item for fans of post bop jazz obscurities
This obscure and difficult to find LP is the Heath Brothers' debut album and is considered to be their best. 'Marchin'on' is unquestionably a masterpiece and is a much sought-after album. With its wealth of riffs, it is much appreciated by samplers and has been sampled by various contemporary artists. It was originally released in 1976 on Strata-East, a label at the time co-owned by Stanley Cowell. The album flows fluidly, meticulously in a warm rich blend with the four part 'smilin' Billy suite being a tour de force on its own. All suites have the same anchor in melody but each branches out to its own distinctive song varying from relaxed to light to dramatic and upbeat. The Heath Brothers was formed in 1975 by brothers Jimmy, Percy, Albert Heath and the much celebrated pianist Stanley Cowell in Philadelphia. The band later on continued with the brothers and alternate new members, with at one point the very talented 'Mtume' who is Jimmy Heath's son, joining.
SONGS:
1 Warm valley
2 Tafadhali
3 The Watergate blues
4 Maimoun (from Illusion Suite)
5 Smilin‘ Billie Suite

Black Friday Record Store Day 2020 Release.
RSD First. Limitation: 2000 copies.
This 1977 studio recording finds Herbie Hancock embracing his jazz roots. The straightforward trio setting puts Hancock’s piano front and center. Backed by Ron Carter on bass and Tony Williams behind the drums, the recording features Hancock originals as well as the Trio’s take on Miles Davis’ “Milestones.”
Though recorded at fabled San Francisco studio The Automatt, the recording was only immediately issued in Japan. To this day Japan is the only country to see a vinyl release of this session.
