Il 2020 è ormai, a detta di molti, l'anno del Covid-19. Una malattia subdola e insidiosa causata dal contagio da virus SARS-CoV-2. Il 2020 è l'anno del contagio. In un contesto nazionale e internazionale del genere, parlare del novo album di Attarus e Il Contagio risulta bizzarro, se non addirittura difficile. Il produttore e l'mc di Lecco hanno in serbo da mesi il loro nuovo lavoro discografico, ma hanno deciso di rimandarne l'uscita a causa del primo lockdown, in rispetto alle tante vittime dell'emergenza sanitaria dovuta alla diffusione del virus. Ora che la situazione è in lento miglioramento, anche se in una condizione di lockdown parziale, i tempi sono maturi per l'uscita di Mutazione Del Virus: fuori a novembre 2020 su cd e in digitale per l'etichetta discografica Skill To Deal Records, Milano. Skill To Deal Records, dopo le celebri pubblicazioni con Alien Army, Dj Skizo, Oyoshe, Flycat, Wza, Egreen e Craig G, decide di puntare sul duo lecchese composto da musicisti attivi da tempo nella scena con le loro crews: NDP per Il Contagio, SDPL per Attarus. L'unione tra il percorso artistico dell'mc e quello del producer da vita a un disco hip hop al 100%, dal sound attuale ma comunque solido, richiamante la golden age del movimento tanto quanto la nuova scuola. La rappata anni novanta del Contagio confluisce nelle ritmiche proposte dal producer in una modalità su cui si può sintonizzare sia l'old schooler che la nuova leva. Dai temi più classici alle riflessioni più intime, l'album si sviluppa lasciando spazio ad atmosfere e sonorità articolate, mature e profonde, il giusto mix tra quelle del precedente disco dell'mc, Pandemia più recente lavoro di Attarus, Lazarus Vol. 1 , del 2019. Mutazione Del Virus va talvolta ad allontanarsi dalle drums potenti tanto caratterizzanti il suono hip hop hardcore, per andare a toccare qualcos'altro: dal richiamo club a quello ambient, dall'atmosfera chill a quella confidenziale, passando per la trap e per la melodia. Il rap del Contagio e le produzioni di Attarus, al loro primo disco insieme ma con esperienze individuali di lungo corso, si affiancano eccellenti collaborazioni, sia alle rime che agli scratch: Dj Skizo, Ape, Sab Sista, Polly, Dj Lil Bac, Dj Never, Easy Man, Sbend, Saraceno, Malavedo.

More glorious heat from the vaults of NYC's Disco powerhouse - P&P Records! One of many labels operating under the equally legendary tutelage of Patrick Adams and Peter Brown, two truly colossal figures in NYC's music scene, the P&P records catalogue is still fascinating underground dance music lovers to this day. Covering a wide range of styles including Gospel, early Rap and Disco the label's output continually finds its way into the playlists of respected DJ's and selectors across the globe. This latest repress from the vaults is a real biggie - a true NYC underground disco CLASSIC! Cloud One was one of Adams' numerous studio outfits, featuring a ridiculously healthy dose of the man's virtuoso keyboard and synth playing. This was a progressive Disco sound, the pairing of extremely danceable funk and R&B with some spaced out over-dubbed analogue synthesizers and keys made for a heady concoction indeed, especially in 1976 when this cut was released. This was one of many Cloud One trademarks and one of the things that make these records still sound so way out today! 'Atmosphere Strut' could not be a better title for this immense slice of true NYC space Disco - it's got it all - the driving rhythms of the Cloud One band, the killer vibes, celestial vocals and Adams' totally wigged out synthesizer workouts. On top of all this goodness, the main man Kon, Boston's editor supreme and self confessed DIsco fiend and digger, has dropped a stellar and respectful edit of Atmosphere Strut' for all your disc jockeys out there, featured here across the length of the B-side thus making this an essential repress of this legendary 12".
