Beginning in the 90s, it has included releases such as their seminal 'Brazilian Beat' 12" featuring Liliana, their magnificent rework of Atmosphere’s ‘Dancing In Outer Space’, and their recent hit Surprise Chef remixes 12". The influences of Brazilian music is evident in their DJ sets and productions, take the poly-rhythms of the 'Nervous Track’ as a prime example. We couldn't think of anyone more fitting to curate the third volume in our "Brazil 45 Boxset Curated by" series than one half of the MAW duo, the mighty Kenny Dope. For his volume of the series, Kenny selected 10 knockout tracks from the golden era of Brazilian music. As you would expect from such a legend, he surpassed the brief of simply compiling the tracks, as he re-edited and remixed a number of his favourites especially for this boxset. Amongst these exclusives is a blazing, heavy psych-funk remix of Antonio Carlos & Jocafi's 'Quem Vem Lá’, and a hip-hop breakbeat bounce woven into Luli Lucinha E O Bando's folky-MPB beauty 'Flor Lilás’. Tower Of Power is known to blend soul, funk, jazz and rock like no other band and has done so successfully for the past 50 years. Their debut album East Bay Grease was originally released in 1970 on Bill Graham's Fillmore Records. The name of the album also describes its genre, which includes a “brass heavy funk-rock sound”. The album features the popular tracks “Sparkling In The Sand”, “Back On The Streets Again” and “Knock Yourself Out”.

Tiratura limitata, 100 copie numerate a mano su vinile nero Trust In Us" è il titolo del primo album ufficiale insieme di PANTU & LONG JOHN, disponibile da venerdì 29 gennaio 2021 su Spotify, iTunes e tutte le principali piattaforme di distribuzione digitale, pubblicato per l'etichetta indipendente italiana Rest In Press. Pantu è il nome d'arte di Manuel Garro, rapper, d.j. e produttore di origini calabresi, nato a Cosenza nel 1978 ed attivo musicalmente dal 1993. Autore di diversi progetti discografici e fondatore, oltre che direttore artistico, dell'etichetta indipendente Rest In Press. Long John è l'alias di John Bernard Wilson, rapper di madre lingua inglese cresciuto musicalmente in Italia, nella città di Milano, ideatore del progetto rap "Mani Pulite" e già autore di diversi album da solista. In questo loro primo album insieme, i due autori principali si avvalgono del contributo musicale di altri tre artisti, rispettivamente presenti in tre dei nove brani che compongono la track list: Vaitea, rapper di origine neozelandese, da anni conosciuta nella scena Hip Hop italiana ed europea, distinguibile con le sue rime in francese nel brano "C'est Long". Vinkee, giovane artista di nazionalità ecuadoriana e membro della crew "Clan Dos", autore del rap in lingua spagnola nel singolo "La Selva". Dj Whip, esordiente disc jockey di origini calabresi alla sua prima pubblicazione discografica, suoi gli scratches in "All The Above". Il progetto "Trust In Us" prende forma nell'aprile del 2019 con l'intento di fondere le sonorità jazz, funk ed afrobeat ad un rap cosciente, tecnico ed allo stesso tempo attuale. Interamente realizzato in Italia e principalmente composto da testi in lingua inglese, l'album è rivolto ad un ben più ampio pubblico grazie ai suoi featuring in francese e spagnolo. I numerosi suoni scelti e mixati da Pantu, uniti ai testi di Long John, sono un ulteriore conferma della natura di questo album. Ogni traccia del disco riporta ad un atmosfera diversa ma comunque in sintonia con tutte le altre. In "Trust In Us" sono musica e parole a fare da padrone. Note di pianoforte e piano Rhodes si incrociano a nacchere, flauti ed archi, mentre basso e batteria creano un groove in quattro quarti dal tipico sapore funky/jazz. Una struttura musicale realizzata su misura da Pantu per il potente rap di Long John, che porta l'ascoltatore in un ambiente sonoro distinto, ben lontano da schemi di mercato o mode del momento, del tutto originale.
