Con grandissimo piacere abbiamo potuto sbirciare negli archivi di David Nerattini aka Little Tony Negri; musicista, produttore (fra gli altri per Frankie Hi-NRG, Colle Der Fomento, Ghemon) dj, conduttore radiofonico (Planet Rock, Rai Radio2) e critico musicale (AL, Superfly), nonché componente della prog-funk band La Batteria. Escono fuori i due brani inediti che formano questo primo volume di “Rome Hip Hop Classics”, un 7 pollici che rende finalmente disponibili su vinile due piccoli classici del hip hop romano della fine degli anni 90 prodotti dallo stesso LTN: “Armageddon 2000” dei Cor Veleno e “Fuoco Sulla Folla” del supergruppo Non Plus Ultra, ovvero Danno, Masito, Amir e Supremo73, con scratch di DJ Baro. Registrati nel 1999 per la colonna sonora del film “Semiautomatic Roma Metal Jacket” di A.J. Sykabonyi, pellicola cult del hip hop italiano degli anni 90, i brani sono rimasti inediti a livello ufficiale ed erano comparsi solo su un paio di mixtape ormai introvabili.

Aldorande is back! The French Jazz-Funk quartet returns with a strong new EP “Summer Body / Breakfast in Space” widening its musical universe to join the Favorite Recordings’ 2020 Disco Jazz-Funk series. After their first eponymous LP released in June 2019, our explorers strike again with two club-friendly compositions joining the dots between Jazz-Funk and Disco/Boogie. Recorded with great care, reflecting Favorite Recordings’ journey towards the authentic analogue sound, both tracks coming with a Charles Maurice dub versions. With this new musical space trip, Aldorande confirmed – if needed – their solid position at the heart of the French jazz scene: a great appetizer before their upcoming 2nd album to be released later this year. A-side opens with “Summer Body”, a boogie banger driven by a magnetic bassline, surrounded by lush synthesizers and catchy backing vocals arranged in the tradition of the best Brazilian songs. On the B-side comes “Breakfast in Space”, a sort of cosmic opera. The slap bass and drums set up a P-Funk foundation. On the top, Aldorande put psychedelic vocal lines making the whole journey a definitive trip into funkiness. Behind Aldorande, you will find a team of great musicians including bandleader and founder Virgile Raffaëlli on bass (Setenta, Camarão Orkestra), Florian Pellissier on keys (Iggy Pop, Guts, Setenta, Cotonete,…), Mathieu Edward on drums (Chassol, De La Soul) and Erwan Loeffel on percussion (10LEC6, Camarão Orkestra). After providing a soundtrack to dissent with debut LP Cashmere, Swet Shop Boys are back with their Record Store Day 2017 release Sufi La. The EP of all new material leaves the political to focus on the party. 'Thas My Girl' sounds like Sugar Hill Gang inspired by Brandy and Monica's 'The Boy Is Mine' while 'Birding' is an ode to the Mughal pastime of birdwatching. And the time has come. With this release we welcome Mr. Fabio Conti in the team in a permenent executive production role that means he will have his own artists roster to take care of, beyond the mere label design he has always done for us so far. It's the case of Mr. Mike James Kirkland, a legend who's dear to our european Soul Community having performed live in Bilbao to a packed Kafe Antzokia in 2015 and counting several tunes in the top list of many great djs. MJK sent us a collection of demos written and produced by himself, his brother Robert and a few other Artists at the dawn of the 90's which never made to the stage of arrangement/production/release. He said he would have been pleased for us to present our vision and, if the ideas we would submit to him were good enough, then a real project would take off. So Electrified presented their classic iron-snare take to it, which Mike absolutely loved. Then I personally felt the urge of doing a 4 beats arrangement in analog which gives it a late night modern room appeal and this version was approved too. So here we are with a project meant to celebrate the late Robert Kirkland, beloved brother and music team buddy who Mike James dedicates this release to. I'm biting my nails off as I'd love to tell you more than this, but then there won't be much left to read on the beautiful booklet Fabio has done which comes with this record. The only way to know it all is to get yourself a copy and read the notes on the booklet and on the back of the picture sleeve.
