REISSUE PRESS USA Guru's Jazzmatazz, Vol. 1 is a jazz rap album from Guru, one half of the duo, Gang Star. This album is one of the first albums to combine a live jazz band with hip hop production and rapping. Jazzmatazz, Vol. 1 brought together a diverse group of jazz cats both old-school and new, including Roy Ayers, Donald Byrd, Lonnie Liston Smith, Ronny Jordan, and Courtney Pine. The album also features vocal collaborations with Carleen Anderson, N'Dea Davenport (of the Brand New Heavies) Dee C Lee and French rapper MC Solaar. The variety of guest artists adds diversity and originality to each track, and gives the album a distinct jazz feel. Continuing with it's Respect The Classics campaign, UMe reissues this classic album back on standard weigh vinyl.

A distanza di cinque anni dalla colonna sonora di Scary Allan Crow, basata sulla graphic novel scritta insieme a Lorenzo Palloni (Edizioni Inkiostro, 2017), DJ Aladyn, tra i dj storici di Radio Deejay, ritorna con Spectropia, un album avventuroso e anticipato dal singolo When I Look Into Your Eyes, prodotto insieme a Max Bellarosa con il featuring di Bunna degli Africa Unite e Saturnino. "Il dub crepuscolare di questa traccia è nato a casa di Saturnino, in piena pandemia. Pensando poi a un'interpretazione vocale non avrei potuto fare a meno di pensare a Bunna", continua. Nonostante siano diverse le anime dell'album legate all'elettronica, dai synth modulari di Goa all'abstract di Paradiso Perduto, dal vapor-soul di Peace fino al downbeat di ADNIL ('creata da un sample di un vecchio 45 giri dei miei, è dedicata a mia figlia Linda'), in Spectropia c'è anche spazio per l'hip hop (Scratch conta su DJ Gruff), la dancehall (Beautiful Minds con Awa Fall), la melodic techno (in Ogni Passo suona il pianista neo-classical Roberto Pace) e la ricerca di nuovi talenti, come MEUSin Daughter of Rage. DJ radiofonico e turntablist di lungo corso, DJ Aladyn si è fatto le ossa con i Men In Scratch, il collettivo di turntablist vincitore di varie edizioni del DMC anche fuori dai confini nazionali. L'album di debutto è Fili Invisibili (Metatron/INRI, 2012), prodotto insieme a tanti ospiti inclusi Rancore, Dargen D'Amico, Calibro 35 e Remo Anzovino. In seguito pubblica diversi EP, remixa Il Boom di Jovanotti con Tormento ed è protagonista di progetti speciali, dentro e fuori la radio.

Everybody knows who Nile Rogers is, and deservedly so, an architect of some of the most danceable hits of the late 70s and early 80s. But what about Patrick Adams? The man that Rogers described as “not only one of my favourite composers/producers… also one of my greatest influences.” Patrick Adams is enmeshed in the DNA of modern dance music through a slew of recordings such as The Universal Robot Band's “Dance And Shake Your Tambourine” Inner Life's “Ain't No Mountain High Enough” and Musique's “Keep On Jumpin'”. The list goes on, but central to the legend is the 1975 album 'Atmosphere Strut', the point where Adams reinvented himself as a dancefloor maestro. Adams was inspired one night when he heard Donna Summer's “Love To Love You Baby” prompting him to go into the studio and create something similar. The result was “Atmosphere Strut” a near ten-minute groove, built up on a metronomic swinging beat, Adams’ bass guitar and vibes, and a female chorus, all lead by Adams’ mini-Moog improvisation. Credited to the group name Cloud One, it became a hit on the floors of some of the most adventurous New York clubs such as the Paradise Garage and the Loft. It was released on Peter Brown's P+P label, one of the more colourful characters around the Harlem music scene. As well as the club success, Brown arranged for Frankie Crocker, the most important R&B DJ in New York, to play “Atmosphere Strut”, giving it city-wide visibility. Adams went back into the studio to create more music under the Cloud One banner with the resulting, perfectly constructed, cosmic disco album. The title track “Atmosphere Strut” was rapidly absorbed as a club classic and as dance music became a world-wide phenomenon “Disco Juice” was a much-sampled groove in house music while hip-hop stars from Nas to Mac Miller sampled “Dust To Dust”.
